How blessed are we as entrepreneurs? If you haven’t taken the time lately to stop and reflect on how truly blessed we are to be in business for ourselves, think about it now.
Sure, being a business owners has it’s ups and downs. But the truth is, especially if we are fortunate enough to live and build our businesses in a developed country, we have it pretty darn good.
Have you ever read the book by Mohammed Yunus, Banker to the Poor? If not, I highly recommend it. It’s the story and history of how micro lending and peer support (mentoring) can transform even the poorest of people in the most impoverished corners of the world.
Another shining example of an organization committed to making a difference when it comes to ending poverty in the world and empowering people to take personal responsibility is Mentors International based in Draper, Utah.
Here’s the bottom line. If you’re like me as a business owner, you get all wrapped up in your own little world. And the reality is the world is a big place. Full of people who don’t have it as good as we do. And they need only a $25 loan to start a business. Then they can feed themselves and their kids. They can learn to save money. They can learn to be free!
So right now, stop and reflect for a moment on how fortunate we are. And choose to take a stand against poverty way beyond what you do now in every way you can.
Today I committed a $100 a month to Mentors International. It’s not much. But every little bit helps.
Will you also step up and help Mentors International serve budding entrepreneurs transform their lives and communities around the world?
